The Maid of Spring

blithe merriment

glimmers on sunrays,

teasing the land to awaken:

a youthful maiden dances in

innocent exuberance as

fresh blooms scatter

beneath her feet

This poem was first shared on my blog two years ago. The illustration to accompany it was drawn for day 263 of 365 Days Wild.

I’ve been making the most of my free time during this past year’s Coronavirus restrictions and have gathered all of my poetry together into a Scrivener file to create a compilation. I’m now working on editing and, more time consumingly, illustrating them. The whole collection follows the wheel of the year, with all of its changing themes. Hopefully I’ll have the whole thing completed and ready for publication before I have to go back to work… It probably doesn’t help that I keep adding new poems to it!

I’d love to know what you think.

Are you working on any nature inspired projects? Let me know in the comments below.
