It’s time for the second September edit of Robyn’s One Four Challenge. I wanted to create an image this week that was very different to last week’s highly detailed version. Stacy of Lensaddiction suggested that I crop some of the rocks away from the bottom, whilst Ben Rowe of Aperture 64 said how he’d like to see it with a lower clarity. Both of these suggestions fitted with the ideas I’d already had for this week’s edit so I was happy to oblige.

As with last week, most of the editing for this one was done in Camera Raw, with only the crop and a slight increasing of the saturation (+25) of the central line of the sea done in Photoshop Elements 13.
These are the changes made in Raw:
Tint +10
Contrast -18
Highlights -46
Shadows +43
Whites +48
Blacks +63
Clarity -29
Vibrance +24
Saturation+17
Luminance +25
Luminance detail +60
Here’s the original, week one and week two edits together for comparison:
I like week 2 the best so far!!

Hi Louise 🙂
This is such a changeable image – so versatile.
For this week’s version, it seems to be all about the view.. and beyond the rocks.
A much softer edition. Nicely done.

Yes I do and it’s very effective and different to last week. This is a good example of how editing can bring out such differences 😀

Excellent choice on the crop 🙂 Personally its a little soft for me but if you then added a painterly effect from something like Topaz Impression I think it could be quite awesome 🙂

I don’t have any Topaz programmes, unfortunately – I think my computer would die if I tried to add anything else to it! I have to make do with Photoshop or FotoSketcher. I’ve already planned my week 4 edit to be soft and painterly, though. 🙂 Thanks for visiting!
