He hadn’t intended to cause such an abysmal mess. It had just been a prank: just stupid, childish folly. But, as blaring sirens grew steadily closer, he knew he was in deep water – and he had no one to blame but himself.

This post is for Sonya’s Three Line Tales challenge. This week’s prompt is by Sean Tan.

  1. Many tragic things have happened as a result of someone thinking what they are about to do is a great prank…and sadly find out differently. Great story and so well compressed in a few lines.

  2. Childish pranks gone awry can have such devastating outcomes. you wrote this so well within the 3 lines it said so much. the regret especially weighed really heavy on him.

  3. Oh, so many kids go through this – they just can’t judge risk or consequence, that’s the problem. I hope your character didn’t do anything he has to live with for the rest of his life … Nicely down Louise
