It might only just be nearing the end of January but there are already a few signs of Spring to be spotted whilst out and about.
On day 239 of 365 Days Wild I spotted both some new leaves…
…and the first Celandines of the year in flower. I always spot these first on the South facing grass verge beside the lane that I walk along to reach the meadow long before I see them anywhere else. I’d thought that they were early last year, but I actually spotted them even earlier this year, though only by a few days.

An Enchanted Place 
so early! a winter storm has knocked off all the autumn leaves that hung on the trees. branches are now bare. sure signs that winter is here where i live. but it wont last long. such is life in SoCal
