I’ve had a box of oil pastels sitting amongst my art materials for several years now, but I’ve never before actually used them. For day 73 of 365 Days Wild I finally decided to try them out. They’re a very different medium to anything else that I’m used to using. They’re definitely not suitable for adding any great amount of detail, but I did my best.
The picture is based on the honey bee on the calendula photograph that I took in Bottesford churchyard on my day 62 outing.

From what I read it sounds as though they may be difficult to use. You did a magnificent job!

Thanks, Peter. It was an interesting medium to work in and I’m looking forward to trying them out again sometime soon. π

So beautiful! You did well Louise! Pastells are a difficult medium to work with!
