One-Four Challenge: March Week Two

Here’s my week two edit for Robyn’s One-Four Challenge. This challenge asks that you edit the same picture in four ways over four weeks.

For this second edit I cropped it a little looser in order to keep more of the tyre tracks on the sand in the foreground. Next, rather than just lightening the face of the man (as that made it stand out too much against his dark jumper last week) this time I used the levels settings to tweak the shadows on the whole of his figure. Many thanks to lensaddiction for the suggestions.

For this edit I also wanted to make it look a little later in the day. To do so I added a faint (20%) magenta photo filter, giving the image a sunset look. After adding this layer I had to select the man’s skin and desaturate it slightly – he’d turned rather orange! I finished off by selecting and brightening the highlights.

  3. Hi Louise, I really llike the steps youve taken with this one. The levels suggestion was a good one and I like the photo filter – it really does feel like late afternoon.
    I like seeing the tyre tracks too and the light and shade in the foreground. So many layers! 😃

  5. Hi Louise, its definately better 🙂 I like the crop as well, nice leading lines with the tyre tracks. There is still detail in the darker areas of the tyres and the tractor that could be extracted further maybe, what happens if you brighten the overall exposure to help with that?
