all paths ahead vanish into a murky haze,
with truths obscured by twisted words and
outright lies, confusion reigns, encouraged, until
direction becomes meaningless: signposts point
the way, but which route should be followed?

On day 159 of 365 Days Wild we had our first foggy morning of the autumn season. I left home just as the sun was starting to break through the murk.
The lanes were obscured; the signposts pointed the way along unclear paths.

I found the views of the fence-line and hedgerow to be strangely fascinating in the fog.

The old growth of the laneside verges were covered in delicate spiderwebs and fragile droplets, an ephemeral beauty granted by the moisture rich air.

The Scots Pine trees in the meadow were similarly adorned. It looked like they had been strung with fairy decorations!

The meadow, little woodland, and pond took on a very different appearance in the fog, adding an element of otherworldly mystery that set my imagination running. I’ve now got a couple of half written pieces of flash fiction saved in my drafts that I might have to complete and share some time soon.
The young trees also really popped out against the hazy background, which was an added treat.

The sun had been trying to break through the haze for the entire time that I was out. Just before I left the meadow it actually managed to do so!

That’s all for today. What’s it like where you are? I’d love to know. Just leave a comment below.
It was a very strange morning today with mists seeming to come and go and move from field to coppice to river to canal, and back!
