Spring Flourish

On day 303 of 365 Days Wild I wandered down to the Nature Project to see what new flowers, encouraged by the warm Spring sunlight, were appearing in the meadow. I was not disappointed.

The first things I spotted were the cowslips. These are popping up all around the meadow. A few years ago there was only a small clump. It’s good too see them spreading so well.

The snake’s head fritillary are also now starting to bloom. I always think they look like little lanterns as they catch the sun.

I also spotted the first red campion flowers of the year. These are a constant in the meadow for most of the year, but the first flowers are the most special, in my opinion.

We are also on the verge of dandelion season. The first of their bright flowers are starting to dot the meadow. Soon, the whole field will turn yellow.

Have you spotted any new flowers blooming where you are? Let me know in the comments below.
