On day 123 of 365 Days Wild I went on an evening walk down to the pond.

Sunset was shortly past 6.30pm. The light during the preceding hour was delightful, particularly over the water but also through the trees of the little woodland. The whole area appeared to have been gilded. It was a beautiful time to be out and about.

Whilst I adore the sight of sunbursts through trees and over the water, the highlight of my outing had to be spotting another Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria) toadstool in the little woodland. These are such classic fairy toadstools that I can’t help but wonder about the magical wonderland that must surely exist just beyond our human perception… This time of year always inspires me to start work on my Enchanted Forest tales of pixies and unicorns again. I still have several ideas playing around in my head that I’ve not even started writing down. There just aren’t enough hours in the day for me to work on my current projects, never mind getting back to older ones!

I left the pond before the sun had set as I wanted to photograph sunset over another field nearby. Unfortunately, I met a fellow walker on the lane and managed to miss it completely. It was only polite to stop for a chat. I did, however, manage to snap one shot of the post-sunset colour before it faded.

That’s all for today. Have you been out and about recently? I’d love to know.
Great post and lovely pics, Louise 🙂
