Two years ago yesterday I started my blog, intending to post the occasional poem and my children’s stories and artwork. It has since been taken over by flash fiction and photography but my blog does still include quite a lot of poetry!
To mark my second blogiversary (yes, I’m a day late) I thought I’d reblog my very first post – the poem from which my username is taken.
I find the lack of any images on the post to be quite unsettling…
For my first post to my blog I thought I’d share a poem I wrote. I hope you like it.
A Wild Habitat
Here…
I live in a world of
make believe,
a world
of light and music,
a wild habitat for
a fairy mind.
Here my life is
my own,
with no regrets.
Here…
Far from the mundane crowds,
from the manic race
through the maze of life,
my rat grows gossamer wings,
a metamorphosis
from beast
to butterfly,
soaring in shimmering flight.
Here…
I become a creature of
pure dawn,
dancing,
swaying amongst sunbeams
as wisps of melody
entice and enthrall.
Here…
in my world.
Its a beautiful poem! We’ve all grown in blogging – I shudder to think what some of my first blogs were!!

Thanks, Sabina. 🙂 With editing my flash fics for my compilation I’ve definitely noticed how much my writing has improved over the past two years. I also look at some of the first photos I edited for photography 101 and have to resist the temptation to take them down and redo them!

Thank you, Sarah. 🙂 I’m really glad you like it. It’s one of those poems that I still know every word of, despite having written it several years ago!

Congratulations on keeping up a writing routine for two years! That is something to be proud of. I’m happy to have come across your blog and enjoy your writings, art and poems very much. This poem is mighty special, Louise. At least for me, it reminds me of the essence of why I started blogging. A place to dream, to write freely, to express and share a part of me that feels otherwise lost. Thank you for sharing such words and truth. Looking forward to reading more, always.

Thank you, Carrie. That’s exactly what I wanted when I started my blog – though I didn’t realise just how much it would truly become that! Having always been quite a solitary, introverted person, I also didn’t realise how wonderful it would be to connect with like-minded people. Meeting you and all my other blogging friends has really given me a boost. 🙂

I’ve read that introverted people find connection in blogs and social media. It is easier to speak their mind without the social anxiety 🙂 I think that is real!

That sounds about right to me. I’ve always been able to chat with kids fine and nowadays I can talk to adults on a professional level, but when it comes to anything personal I find it much easier to communicate in written form and from a distance. 🙂

What a wonderful poem, and that as your first blog post. Congraatulations on having made it. In a way, your blog and mine are siblings, both being exactly two years old now. Let’s head towards year three with energy. 😀 ❤

I’m hoping year three will be just as wonderful as the last two. I never expected to enjoy blogging quite as much as I do! I’m glad you like the poem – it’s one of my favourites and very much embodies the whole ethos of my blog. 🙂 Good luck on year three! ❤

Thank you, PJ. It’s been a wonderful two years! It’s quite strange looking back at my early posts, though – my blog has definitely grown a lot! I hadn’t even heard of flash fiction back then and my photographs were generally seen by me alone!
