First Snowfall

Day 187 of 365 Days Wild brought the first snowfall of the winter season.

We didn’t get much and it didn’t settle for long. Most of the day was characterised by sleet. During the brief window of time when we had a landscape dusted with the cold white stuff, I ventured out for a walk around the village and the local lanes.

My first stop was outside the churchyard, where I photographed gravestones in the snow.

I was particularly drawn to the sight of moss poking through the snow on the walls around the village.

The bright orange berries of the Pyracanthus also looked lovely in the snow.

The landscape around the village looked strangely magical with its dusting of white.

I entered the meadow for a little while, looping through the end of it in order to snap a few pictures. I walked along parallel to the lane and rejoined it through the hole in the hedge a little way further down. It was a bit too cold to spend time sitting on any of the benches.

By the time I arrived home, much of the snow was already starting to melt away, with sleet falling instead. It was lovely while it lasted. That might be the only snow we get this winter, but I hope not.

That’s all for today. Have you had any wintry weather where you are, or do you have a very different climate? Why not let me know in the comments?

    1. I’d expected you to have had far more than me! Usually it misses our side of the county while over near Derbyshire is covered in it. Hopefully there will be more to come. Thanks for reading and commenting, Peter. 😀

    1. I love the sight of snow on the landscape, but it’s pretty rare up here, too. I’m really hoping that wasn’t the only snowfall of the winter! Thanks for reading and commenting, Ali. 😀

    1. We don’t get snow often, so it’s always a treat – even if it barely lasts a few hours! The pyracanthus berries add lovely splash of winter colour. Thanks for visiting and commenting, Derrick.
