Red Sky at Night

On day 153 of 365 Days Wild, I decided to get out some paper and my soft pastels in order to capture the previous evening’s beautiful blood red sunset.

I so enjoyed working in this medium again that I didn’t stop after completing the first picture. I continued on with a second one. I wasn’t entirely happy with the silhouettes on the first (I used to have a soft charcoal pencil for such detailed areas that I don’t seem to be able to find) so on my second picture I decided to focus more on the sky itself.

Here are a few of the photos that these were based on. You might notice that my first picture was actually an amalgamation of two different shots! The second was just based on one.

That’s all for today. Have you been inspired by nature recently?

    1. Sometimes talent doesn’t matter if you enjoy the creation process. I’ve always felt that my sister is a far better artist than me and it put me off for a long time because nothing I did was ever any good in comparison. Nowadays I’ve just decided that if I enjoy it and am happy with the results, then that is all that matters. Thanks for visiting and commenting, Peter. 😊

    1. I’ve always loved drawing but have always viewed myself as massively inferior to my sister, who creates absolutely stunning pieces. Recently I’ve decided to stop comparing and to just go for it. If I enjoy it and am happy with the results, then that is all that matters. Thanks for visiting and commenting, Ali. 😊
