On day 98 of 365 Days Wild I went on a bug hunt in the meadow. I’ve tried to identify as many as I could (just click on the galleries to see the captions) but there are a number that are simply ‘species unidentified’. This is particularly true of the spiders, where I can’t even look through the pictures on the identification pages without my skin starting to crawl. I might have got over most of my phobia of creepy crawlies – though I have a tendency to freak out of something unexpectedly crawls on me – but spiders continue to be difficult…
The first, most successful half of my hunt, was in dry weather. The second half was after a sudden rain-shower that seemed to drive most of the insect life into hiding. The sun then also came out, and the light reflecting off the wet growth made taking clear pictures somewhat difficult. Many of the photographs that I took sadly had to be cast aside as unusable.
I couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures of raindrops on leaves. They looked like little crystal balls!
As I walked home, I also stopped to snap a few shots of some raindrops on the rosehips in the hedge.

An Enchanted Place 
It’s very wet underfoot now where I walk. Lots of grasshoppers this year, and spiders by the bucketload!

Your pictures are great. I’m scared of snakes and there is no way I could look though pictures to identify them.
