A Splash of Colour

Until last week the walls of our home were an unobtrusive off-white – as has tended to be the fashion in the UK for the past few decades. As you can probably tell from the pictures, this is no longer so. When my sister first suggested that we paint the walls of our living room bright blue, I have to admit that I was somewhat sceptical, but the change is astonishing. The room is so much more inviting, now, and the addition of colour suits our personalities much better. Not to mention it works very well with our collection of strange knick-knacks – several of which you might recognise from my Monochrome Monday posts. It’s just fortunate that we both had days of holiday owing to us – though I hadn’t planned to spend my time off from work re-decorating!

As well as being our main living area, the room we’ve decorated is also our main work area. For the last six months or so, Nic and I have been spending most of our evenings and weekends working on building an environmental news website. Hopefully, we’ll be live very soon. We’re planning to share positive news stories and information about grassroots organisations from around the world. We’ll be accepting submissions of articles once we’re properly up and running, so if you’re involved in an environmental project in your area and would like to write an article about it, we’d love to hear from you. I’ll be sharing more about the site on here once we’re live.

I’d love to know what you think.

    1. Thank you. 😀 The credit mainly goes to my sister – I wouldn’t have had the courage to go so vivid on my own! It’s a wonderfully comfortable room now. I’m glad you like it.

  1. That’s a very cosy-looking room! Strangely the blue really works. I wouldn’t have considered it as a living room colour.
Good luck with the website 🙂

    1. I really wasn’t convinced when Nic first suggested it, but I’m glad now that I let her convince me. It’s a very cosy room. It helps that it gets a lot of light.

  2. It looks wonderful – colourful and welcoming, and so much better than it was before. You’ve both done a great job and I’ll pop round to have a look tomorrow. 😀
