Beside the Lake

Follow the lane as it wends its way through craggy hills, sodden earth beneath your feet and deep waters at your side. With each step feel your cares tumble loose, descending like scree into the lake’s inky depths.

This post is for Cee’s Which Way challenge. The pictures were taken at Wastwater – the deepest lake in the Lake District, Cumbria, UK – which we visited over this past weekend. This was the day after storm Doris had passed over, so it was very wet underfoot, and still very cold, windy and cloudy. Fortunately it managed not to rain whilst we were out there!

I hope you like them.

    1. Me too. We have relatives that live a little south of the lake district, so we always try to visit when we’re up there. 🙂 I’m glad you like the pictures. Thanks for visiting.

    1. The lakes are one of the most beautiful areas of the country. We don’t visit them often enough – only when visiting relatives who live a little way south of there. I’m glad you like them, Gina. 🙂

      1. Its really pretty, I was in Queenstown, New Zealand and it looks a lot like this. there’s a lake at the top of a mountain region there just like this.

      2. This whole area is riddled with lakes and pools. The one we visited this time is actually the deepest lake in England (74 metres), and the water often looks pitch black. 🙂 New Zealand is definitely on my list of places I’d like to visit!

      3. Since you love taking the photos and are really so good with it you must go to New Zealand, the scenery is so different from North to south island, you would need a whole week just taking shots. the dormant volcanoes create the most amazing landscapes. Sadly I lost most of my photos, my camera got stolen at the airport and I hadn’t backed up everything and the back up was in the camera bag! Well reason enough to go back right?! Lovely day to you Louise! Your internet seems to be behaving!

      4. A close friend from my uni days actually lives in New Zealand and I have a standing invitation to visit – unfortunately it would cost me a fortune to get there! Someday, though… 😀 Losing photographs is horrible. I managed to lose a whole folder full off my computer last year that I hadn’t backed up on the external hard drives. I’m ridiculously careful to make sure I have everything in several places now. My internet does seem to be behaving itself at the moment. I just hope it’s going to last!

      5. understand the cost totally, my currency is one sixth of the pound and i still itch to travel but it holds me back a lot so I get it. but keep it at the back of your mind, its pretty amazing there, but you also are not short of loveliness where you are. I am not so meticulous with saving and filing and get really upset with myself. yay! for your internet!
