Unceasing Strife

“Is that food ready yet, woman?”

Julian sighed – here we go again.

“It’ll be ready when its done. If you got off your lazy backside and helped out, maybe it’d be ready sooner!”

Every day it was the same: Henry would snarl and Edna’ strident voice would rise in response. He’d found them amusing at first – the pair knew exactly how to rile one another – but soon their constant arguing had worn him down.

Julian wasn’t surprised she’d slipped poison into her husband’s food – he treated her like dirt, after all. He also wasn’t surprised that the mean old man had strangled her – her nagging was enough to drive anyone to murder. Unfortunately, their actions had simply bound them together, reliving their miserable life, for all eternity.

And nothing he’d tried would get rid of them!

He’d once thought that living in a haunted house would be such fun. Julian winced, rubbing his temples as Edna’s voice reached a piercing pitch. He’d been such a fool.

Hopefully he’d find someone else equally idiotic soon…

  6. I would probably go crazy too listening to that day after day! Hopefully, Julian can move to a “not-so-haunted house.” LOL! Great story Louise! I enjoyed reading this.

  8. This is always the problem when you buy a house for the novelty value – it soon wears off and you’re stuck with the house and the ex-novelty.
    Fun story (well, not for Julian!) 🙂
