She’d always said that she wouldn’t be put in a box and forced into conformity, that she wouldn’t follow their indifferent society’s path, only to be left feeling stifled and unfulfilled. So how had she come to this? She turned away from the window, from the view of coffin like apartments, and began to pack her bags – it was time to start again.

This post is for Sonya’s Three Line Tales. As I was writing this I had the words of a song by Newton Faulkner going around in my head, so I thought I’d share it with you.

  1. time to get out if its stifling you and holding you back….she must have thought at the start she stumbled upon something that would change her life, in the end it brought her further down….love the self realisation portrayed so well here Louise!

    1. It’s so easy to lose sight of your dreams and your sense of self when the day to day essentials of life start piling in on top of you. At least she doesn’t have too many responsibilities tying her down. Leaving might have been a lot harder to do! I’m glad you enjoyed it, Gina. 🙂

  2. for some reason this reminds me of the Japanese Writers such as Kobo Abe (Woman of the Dunes) and that feeling of being trapped in conformity and the loss of self. Marvelous Louise!!

    1. I’ve never read anything by Kobo Abe – I’ll have to check out some of his work. Being trapped in conformity is my idea of a nightmare! I’m glad you enjoyed the read, Cybele. Thanks for visiting. 🙂

  3. Loved how you described “coffin like apartments” as being similar to being forced into conformity! So glad she is fighting against conformity! Great 3 Line Tale!

    1. Thansk, PJ. I’m glad you like that line – I know that living in a place like that would kill my spirit! Everyone should fight against conformity. 😀
