WPC: Morning

St Michael's Mount Causeway

wait

soon it will emerge

the beloved of the sea

pathway to secrets

released from watery slumber

as the morning tide

recedes

*

step

carefully ahead

footsteps on slick cobbles

the journey to the truth is

treacherous

Waiting for the Causeway

This post is for the Weekly Photo Challenge. This week’s theme is morning.

The photos were taken at St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall, an island topped with a medieval castle that can be approached between mid and low tide by a causeway from the town of Marazion. We visited in the morning, and had to wait for the tide to go out before we could cross. As you can tell from the picture above, many people didn’t wait for the causeway to be completely free of water before they ventured across.

  1. “I recognise that place” I thought to myself 🙂 Last time I went I took the little boat across and the causeway back.
    Lovely verse too 🙂

    1. It’s a very memorable place. 🙂 We walked the causeway both there and back, though we did consider getting the boat over in the morning. Luckily we didn’t have to wait too long for the tide to recede. I’m glad you liked it, Ali. 🙂
