Photography 101 – Water

November Rose 093

November Rose

With raindrops
clinging
to tips of petals
withering with age,
still you are
enduring
when others have faded,
a splash of sunlight
on shortening days,
resisting
the call of the
earth.

November Rose 103

I wasn’t sure which of the two pictures I preferred here, landscape or portrait, so I decided to do as was suggested in today’s Photography 101 brief and put them both up. The portrait version I like because the rose looks healthier, but the landscape, showing the withering petals, better suits my poem.  The link to today’s theme is a little tenuous, I’ll admit, but I wasn’t happy with any of the pictures of the local streams and ponds that I took today and I didn’t want to cheat and take something out of my archive.

I’d love to know what other people think.

Bye-de-byes

    1. Thanks. Roses are my favourite flower. In the summer months our garden is full of them. We don’t usually still have them blooming now!

  3. Beautiful roses, and personally I prefer the second photo. I think it’s because the “edges” of the cluster of flowers and buds are intact where they are cut off in the first one… if that makes any sense at all! 🙂 But whatever the reason its a great picture!
